Food For Thought

Here is some short but sweet food for thought I received in an email recently. Enjoy!

  • If you want your dreams to come true, you mustn't oversleep.
  • Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.
  • The best vitamin for making friends..... B1.
  • The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.
  • The heaviest thing you can carry is a grudge.
  • One thing you can give and still keep...is your word.
  • If you lack the courage to start, you have already finished.
  • One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.
  • Ideas won't work unless ' You' do.
  • Your mind is like a parachute...it functions only when open.
Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

Box Tops Box Received

I have recently received my free Box Tops For Education collection box that I requested a few weeks ago. Its just another way for my little man to save and collect box tops. During the school year we save and stick them on a box tops worksheet (which can be downloaded and printed from BTFE website). There are so many to choose from. For now since we have a collection box - this makes it easy to just cut them out and drop them in a slot. Then we can decide when we want to open it up and paste or tape our box tops onto our worksheets for him to take to school. Last year his teacher would take him to the library to turn in his full worksheets and the librarian would give him a little prize, like a brand new pencil. He got a kick out of that. I hope they do the same in Kindergarten. :) He is always on the look out for box tops when we go shopping. Sometimes he finds products with double the box tops and gets so excited.

Happy collecting.

DeRailed

Ok, so I have gotten a little off track lately. It seems so much has been going on the past few weeks. I plan to get back into the grove of things soon. If you have gotten derailed from your summer goals I hope you find your way back soon as well.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Do you have summer time goals?

I have a few goals I would like to accomplish this summer. Here are few of the basics.

1) Declutter my home. I plan to go through everything in my house and separate things to keep, things to sell, and things to get rid of.

2) Declutter my computer. I have been saving and cleaning out files. I will be performing a backup and reprograming the whole kitandkaboodle. This will help my computer run faster.

3) Deep clean my house. Every knok and cranny will be dusted and wiped clean. That will take a while but having a decluttered house will help in this process.

4) Upgrade a few electronics that are going out of date. I have an old tv I would like to replace with a newer one. I am also looking forward to upgrading my monitor to a flat screen - this will take up less space on my desk. Of course this will take funds, so saving will be a must for this goal.

5) Catch up on my favorite shows. I am so far behind on LOST. I plan on renting previous seasons and hopefully I will be caught up before the new season starts.

6) Help my chlid get ready for Kindergarten. I plan on reading everyday and just working on letter sounds and putting words together. This will be a daily goal for me. Setting aside time everyday will make a big difference when school starts back up in August.

7) Enjoy going places with my son. Whether its just Mcdonals to play or the library, we will not be sitting at home all summer long. We also visit family and go to the park to play. There are lots of free ways to have fun. Money is tight this summer so we will be looking for some free things to do this summer that are a blast. One slurge might be swimming lessons - but grandma is to thank for that one. :)

Well, thats all I have so far. I know it doesn't look like much but each goal will take some time to complete.

I have already started decluttering in one bedroom. Thats a start - and its only the 2nd day of summer. Though the rest of my house is a mess, it feels so nice to walk in that room and know everything is in its place. I forget how terrible the rest of the house looks.. lol

Do you have any goals for this summer? If so I hope this gives you the motivation on completing your list and also gives you some ideas for more ways to spend you summer. But don't forget to have fun.

Make a List

Ok here is a little tip taken from my latest email subscription to http://www.declutterfast.com

If you don't do anything else to be organized, the single most important tip of all is to make a list. Lists will focus you on what you need to do, and they will motivate you.

Have a separate list called your "Master List" that has EVERYTHING you need to do, now and in the future, and then you can use your daily list to just focus on TODAY.

Sure, a list won't do the job for you, but when you write that list out, day in day out, you will get that fire lit under you and you will get things done.

I hope this will inspire some of you to get your To Do List done. Have a great day!

Stock Up and Save

Happy Wednesday to Everyone,
I have come across some news I think everyone should know. Especially U.S. citizens. Here is the article I found.

Stamp Prices to Go Up 2 Cents -From 42 Cents to 44 Cents in May

The post office will get an extra 2-cents worth when you mail a letter starting in May. The U.S. Postal Service announced Tuesday that the price of a first-class stamp will rise to 44 cents on May 11. That gives plentyof time to stock up on Forever Stamps, which will continue to sell at the current 42-cent rate until the increase occurs. They will remain valid in the future regardless of rate hikes. "The Postal Service is not immune to rising costs which are affecting homes and businesses across America today," said Postmaster General John Potter. "Even with the increases, the PostalService continues to offer some of the lowest postage prices in the world."
Read more at...http://www.usatoday.com/money/economy/2009-02-10-stamp-prices_N.htm?loc=interstitialskip

So go out and stock up on Forever Stamps and save on future mailings. It could save you lots depending on how much mailing you do. Think of it this way - even the stamps for those monthly bills add up.

Just thought I would share this with you. Have a great day!

Time to organize and decorate

Hello everyone,
I have finally caught up on most of the news and updates from this crazy online world. I have missed working my sites and chatting with online buddies. I am glad to be home now spending time to do whatever I want. Work was hard on my daily life. I had no time to spend with family or dare touch my computer. I am working on reorganizing my sites and updating my blogs. I plan to work them all to make up for lost time. There are so many new sites I still would like to join, so if you have a new link and I haven't yet joined I would love to check it out. Just leave me a comment.

As for housework and decorating for the holidays, I have cleaned up and set up our little tree. I plan on decluttering my dining table this week. One stack a day. LOL. Anyways, glad to be back and ready to earn some cash to make up for all the overspending I will be doing for Christmas. :)

Who says Pre-K is just fun and games?

Ok so my little one has been in school for about 4 weeks already. I know most people think of Pre-Kindergarten as a choice because its not required under law that children attend. But I think it should be. My son has always been one smart cookie. I know thats what every mother would say about their child. But really, being able to count to 10, know all basic colors and shapes, and even know how to type his own name by the age of 2 and 1/2. These amongst the infinite list of his vocabulary and abilities, are just the basics. Now back to my point. This week was our very first Parent/Teacher Conference. No, these are not just for students that act up. It was just a brief of how my son was doing so far in school. The teacher said he is very well behaved and listens to directions well. He has never had timeout or caused any mischief. Its amazing what he has learned that we never really even thought to teach him at home. Today he came home and was so excited to sing a new song for me. The song was "Where is Thumpkin" he was so great at it - you know I didn't even know how the rest of the song went after the first set of verses. He did his whole hand. Wow and didn't even miss a beat. That's just the icing on the cake. Last week he came home and wanted to share with me what he learned that day. He recited the Months of the year in English and Spanish - only missing one or two months. WOW!! Then he preceded to tell me the Days of the Week in both English and Spanish. I am so proud of him. I hope he does well in every grade as he has been his very first year. I can't wait to see what he learns next. They are little sponges, let them soak up all the good stuff. :)

Being tagged is a good thing...

I have been tagged by JessicaMichele (Rants~and~Rambles) to spill a few things about myself.

Here are the rules:

1) Link to the person who tagged you.
2) Mention the rules.
3) Tell six unspectacular quirks of yours.
4) Tag six bloggers by linking.
5) Leave a comment for each blogger.

Here you go - a few details about me

1) I am a great listener. If you need to let go and talk things out, I am always here to listen. No judging is permitted, of course. I respect others privacy.

2) I am a Cancer sign, so pretty much all that is Cancer is me. Especially the homebody thing. I love being home, I get homesick easily. I even cry about it. I know pathetic. LOL.

3) Some say I never get mad. Well, I just never explode. I have more patience than most I know. I just go with the flow and try not to worry about the little things. Save energy for the big things.

4) I think I am more of an idealist. I get great ideas (usually during the hour I am I trying to fall asleep) but lack the motivation and time to get these things done. I have been trying to overcome this with this blog to help push me to my goals.

5) I am somewhat technologically inclined. I can get by but don't ask me any technical computer questions. I know how to use Word, Internet, Printer and IM. Thats pretty much all I do. I didn't know what a cookie was til this past year. Don't laugh - ok you can laugh. :)

6) I'm a sucker for a man in a white tee and blue jeans. Yummm. LOL.

Ok now that you have had your little peak into my world, it now time to pick a few bloggers to pass this task along to. It will be difficult since my blogroll is pretty small and I know a few of them have already been picked.

* Rachel (How to make money online for FREE)

* Tracy (Sheeb's Moneymaking Place)

Umm if anyone else wants a tag just let me know - 2 out of 6 not horrible. LOL.
